Ballet After Degas

Ballet Bristol was invited to take part in a joint performance with Chelsea Ballet and Ballet Allsorts at the Redgrave Theatre, Clifton on 31st July 2010.

For many members of the Performers Level 1 group this was their first experience of dancing in a theatre.  For such a special event we wanted a beautiful new piece to present which the whole company could be involved in.

The result was 'Ballet After Degas', a work inspired by the timeless paintings of the artist and choreographed by company members.

Stunning new costumes, as seen the the pictures, were made for us by Chelsea Ballet member, Cassandra Jacobs.

We were also supported during the creation of the ballet by the artist Robert Antell, who took some beautiful images of the dancers in the costumes. Some of the photos are presented here.

The company is now looking forward to future performances of 'Ballet After Degas', especially dancing it at our upcoming Nursing Homes appearances.
